SESSIONS | THERAPY

It’s always helpful to arrange a 15-minute introduction video or telephone call. This is a chance for us to discuss what you would like to bring to therapy and might expect from it. It’s also an opportunity to arrange the first session if it feels like a good fit.

The first session might seem like a daunting experience. For many people, it’s something brand new and there’s often been a lot of build-up to this moment. Many of my clients had never spoken to a therapist before, I promise that feeling passes quickly. If you have never tried therapy but have arrived at this website, I encourage you to keep going. It takes incredible courage to send that email or make that call and ask for an appointment.

  • There is a blueprint created during our formative years. These patterns serve as a mental map telling us who we are and what our place in the world is. There may come a point when we outgrow this way of being, perhaps it feels off or wrong, or maybe we just want to understand why we are the way we are. Experiences from our childhood and as young adults can be forgotten, packed away or left unfinished. Exploring the past can be incredibly insightful but is always challenging. There are often very good reasons for packing away difficult experiences and emotions that were felt when we were younger.

  • All real therapeutic work attends to the here and now. How you feel today, how you react to these feelings and how you think right now is all that can truly be attended to. Whether we are working through a significant life change or addressing difficult thoughts, feelings or behaviours, change is always possible.

  • You might know the direction you want to go in, where you want to be and what you want to change but simply need help getting there. I have worked with clients to help them set and achieve their goals. I work with empathy and encouragement so my clients feel confident and inspired to truly explore who they might be and the growth they might be capable of experiencing. The next chapter is unwritten.
